At Cardinal Edge, personalized tutoring begins with understanding the student. Our process combines detailed assessment, thoughtful student and tutor matching, targeted instruction, and ongoing progress tracking to create an experience built around each student's needs—whether they choose small-group tutoring, private instruction, or college admissions support.

We begin by identifying each student's current performance, goals, strengths, and areas for improvement. Depending on the service, this may include diagnostic testing, academic records, previous test scores, and conversations with the student and family. The goal is to understand not just where a student stands, but where the greatest opportunities for growth exist.

We look beyond overall grades and test scores. For test-prep students, performance can be broken down by section, skill category, question type, difficulty, pacing, and recurring error patterns. For academic tutoring, we consider coursework, foundational knowledge, current challenges, and learning goals. This creates a more complete picture of what each student actually needs.

Students are then matched with the learning environment that best fits their needs. For small-group tutoring, we identify students with compatible academic profiles, goals, and timelines to create focused groups of approximately 3–6 students. For private tutoring, students are paired with an instructor whose experience and expertise align with their individual needs.

Rather than following the same curriculum for every student, instruction focuses on the areas where it can have the greatest impact. Small groups work through shared areas of need while tutors continue to address individual differences within the group. Private students receive a fully individualized approach that can adapt from session to session.

Student needs change as they improve. Performance is monitored throughout the program using practice results, tutor observations, academic performance, and other relevant measures. Instruction can then be adjusted to reinforce remaining weaknesses, introduce more advanced material, and keep students progressing toward their goals.
